Frequently Asked Questions
We have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions from our customers and have answered them for your convenience. If you look through the list and don't see an answer to your question, feel free to visit the Contact page and send us a message.
1. How long have you been breeding dogs?
We have owned Labradors for most of our lives, but we didn't start breeding them until 2019. We became registered breeders with the Canadian Kennel Club in 2021 and now solely sell registered Labrador Retrievers.
2. What are your dogs' temperaments like?
Each dog is different! However, if we were to give a brief description, we'd describe them as friendly, loveable, inquisitive and playful. Our dogs adore children and adults alike, and love companionship with humans. They enjoy playing fetch, going for walks and runs, exploring and spend the rest of their time lounging about. Our dogs are not aggressive in any way, but they are protective of their home and surroundings and will bark if they feel threatened.
3. Have you done any sort of testing on your dogs?
Yes, we have! Our dogs have all had their Embark health testing done and we are happy to report they were not carriers for any genetic diseases. Besides that, each Lab that is over 2 years of age has had their hips and elbows x-rayed to check for evidence of hip and elbow dysplasia. Each of our Labs comes from a long line of exceptionally healthy, long-living Labrador Retrievers.
4. What kind of dog food do you feed your dogs? Do you recommend it?
We feed our dogs TLC Pet Food and highly recommend it. TLC is a North American company that makes wholesome food which prioritizes quality over quantity. We encourage all our puppy buyers to feed their puppies TLC Pet Food. The dog food is ordered online and delivered via Fed Ex to your front door, which is very convenient! You can also set up auto-deliveries. More information can be found below. If you think you'd like to feed this brand, use the link below to receive a coupon from us for your first order.
6. How does CKC Registration work?
Once a puppy litter is born, we register the litter with the Canadian Kennel Club. The CKC is the primary registry body for purebred dogs in Canada. Without registration, a dog cannot be recognized as purebred. When you are ready to take your puppy home, we will register your puppy under its own personal name and name you as the owner of the puppy. Registering the puppy provides valid proof that you are the owner, in addition to ensuring that our puppies' pedigree remains intact.
7. How big can I expect my puppy to get once it is full grown?
Labrador Retrievers are considered large breed dogs. Females usually develop to be smaller than males. With the right diet, you can expect a female to weigh approximately 60 to 80 pounds as an adult. Males usually are a little larger, weighing approximately 70 to 90 pounds once full grown.
8. Do you have any reviews from previous puppy buyers?
Yes! Please check our "Reviews" page.
9. Am I allowed to purchase a puppy from you if I have no experience with dogs?
Absolutely! While experience will aid you in the whole process, it is definitely not a requirement. Regardless of your experience with puppies and dogs, we give all customers a pamphlet filled with websites, videos and blogs that share an abundance of information on raising puppies. We are also more than happy to answer any questions that you have regarding owning a dog. The key to success is preparation and we fully believe anyone who is well prepared and committed will provide a good life for one of our puppies.
10. Are we allowed to see and meet the puppies before we pick them up at 8 weeks of age?
Yes. If you have sent a deposit, you are invited to our farm when your puppy is approximately 5 weeks old. You can meet the parents of the litter, and choose which puppy will be yours. Seeing the puppies personally allows you to get to know their characteristics and choose the puppy that best suits your family.
11. Is the price negotiable?
No, it is not. Please email us personally if you have questions regarding pricing.
12. Anything more you can tell me about Labradors? How are they with children? Do they shed?
There's a reason Labs are one of the most popular dog breeds worldwide. They are versatile, friendly, energetic and love people. Labs need a fair amount of exercise and attention. They are tolerant of children and love the companionship that children provide. Labs do shed. We find that our Labs shed a small amount year round, and then go through two periods each year where they shed significantly more. This usually occurs in the spring and the fall for a few weeks.
